The Song of Delphine

Poor Delphine is all alone with no family and no friends.  As a servant of the great Queen Theodora, her life is full of work.  In her loneliness Delphine has found singing to be a great comfort.  One day the Princess Beatrice, the queen's niece comes to stay at the palace.  Delphine is excited!  Perhaps she'll have a friend at last!  But the princess makes Delphine's life miserable.  Singing has always eased Delphine's burden in the past, but will it be enough to help her now?

In a starred review, Booklist said it was a quiet yet magical picture book that is just right for reading aloud.
