Author Visits

"I can't express enough how much I enjoyed your presentation last Friday."

"Thank you so much for an outstanding day. The students were buzzing about it all afternoon. I even heard that a 1st grader told his teacher, "You can't write a book in a day!" Thank you so much for sharing the life of an author with our students. We were all very impressed and learned so much."

Ken presented about the writing and illustrating process to our Lake Michigan Writing Project's summer camps in 2025. The kids loved him, and they asked him so many great questions about being an author. Ken has a gift for explaining to children in terms and details accessible to them, and his presentations are interactive with many great age-appropriate analogies and demonstrations. We hope to have him back for our future summer camps.

Get ready for an engaging author visit that will take the students on the fascinating journey of making a book.
Watch a story as it starts as an idea in Kenneth's head and, with a lot of hard work, slowly becomes a book. Along the way students will learn about writing a first draft, sketching, editing, revising, creating the artwork and the value of perseverance. Kenneth uses lots of slides, props, and questions for students in his energetic and engaging presentation.
Elementary school author visits last for 30 - 45 minutes, depending on the ages of students. These include a book reading and time for Q&A at the end.
