Would you like to help me finish a picture? Below are a few illustrations that I started, but left space for you to finish. Let me know how they turned out!

Henry Challenges Who? - Here is Henry Alfred Grummorson brandishing his sword, ready to have "ado." You decide who Henry is challenging and draw that person or creature to the right of Henry.

Have Tea with the Leviathan - The Leviathan is a friendly beast. Draw yourself on the raft and have some tea with him. The waves aren't too bad today, but you'll still have to be careful not to spill the tea. You can ask him what he sees in the deep parts of the ocean.

Royal Nameplate - Write your name in the middle, add some color, and then hang it on your door. Things might be different once your name is displayed in royal fashion. Maybe trumpets will sound when you leave your room and people will bow to you and servants will bring you food on silver platters.

Giraffe Ride - What was it like for Delphine and Princess Beatrice to ride on top of giraffes through the moonlit savannah? You can find out. Draw yourself on the third giraffe and enjoy the ride!

Jewel Band - Did you notice that Queen Theodora and Princess Beatrice wear bands in their hair with large jewels on them? Here is jewel band that you can cut out and tape to fit around your head. (Print it in landscape orientation). Cut out both bands and tape them together so that they fit on your head. Queen Theodora wore a red jewel and Princess Beatrice wore blue, what color will you wear?

Hills with Trees and Flowers - Here is a peaceful scene for you. I left an open spot for you to draw somebody to enjoy it. Also, what time of day is it? It could be a bright sunny day, or you could make it a night scene, or maybe it is evening with the sun setting. There are so many choices and they are all fun to draw!

Mushroom Home - Here is a mushroom house just for you to color!
Composition and Color Exercise - Here is a way to demonstrate perspective and color in visual art. Cut out the small, medium, and large person, sun and house. Start by placing the small house on the horizon line (the third printout). Then put the medium sun at the top of the page and the large person at the bottom of the page. Which is closer; the person or the house? Now put the big house on the bottom of the page and the small person on the horizon line. Which is closer now?
If you want to explore the way color changes the mood of a picture, you could make a few different versions of the same the picture using different color schemes. And then you can change the composition of the pictures to see how that effects the mood. The possibilities go on and on! |
